Restaurant 'Le Cabanon', Propriano

Today has to be one of the warmest so far this year so when my neighbours kindly invited me to lunch on the port, I jumped at the chance!!

Like most people who have been coming to Corsica for many years, they have their favourite haunts where the proprietors know them by name and greet them as old friends, so we headed to ‘Le Cabanon’

I have only eaten here a couple of times and there is no denying that the location is absolutely superb. We’d been lucky enough to be given a table right at the edge of the terrace in the sun and it was lovely to feel the warm rays as we sat and chatted, although I did regret wearing black which holds the heat, as I felt almost as steamed as the mussels!

I chose the menu du jour which was a choice of either Sauté de Veau aux olives (veal with olives) or a Salade de Chèvre Chaud (goats cheese salad). Veal in Corsica is free range and tastes fabulous, so I went for that followed by the lemon meringue pie. I was a bit disappointed that there wasn’t as much veal as I would have liked, but what I had was very tasty!
